Tottenham Lunchtime Round-Up, Monday 26th October 2026: De Zerbi Sets Mathys Tel Improvement Targets After Chelsea Win

Still plenty of talk about Saturday's win at Chelsea this lunchtime. Roberto De Zerbi has praised Mathys Tel's wonder goal in the derby but says there are two specific areas the young forward needs to develop before he can be considered the finished article rather than just a 'talent' (Spurs Web).

Mateus Fernandes has also been reflecting on the victory, with the midfielder sending a message to Spurs' rivals by stressing the importance of being able to 'beat the top teams' (Spurs Web). Despite a man-of-the-match display, though, Fernandes was left out of Troy Deeney's Team of the Week, with Spurs Web noting one other Tottenham player did make the cut (Spurs Web).

Elsewhere, Gary Neville has waded into the debate over the Chelsea game, arguing that the Blues should have ended up with nine men on the pitch rather than just Cole Palmer being punished (Spurs Web).

On the individual awards front, De Zerbi has given his take on the Ballon d'Or race, sharing his thoughts on how Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe compare ahead of Monday evening's ceremony in London (Football.London).

Finally, a bit of fun for the stats fans - a supercomputer has run the numbers on Tottenham's season and predicted where De Zerbi's side will finish in the Premier League, with European qualification in the picture (Spurs Web).
